About Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)
Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) was established in 1969 as the second university in the country. It offers a wide range of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels to 30,000 students:
- 17 Academic schools on the main campus (island of Penang), mainly known as USM Penang
- 6 schools at Engineering campus (Nibong Tebal)
- 3 schools at Health campus (Kubang Kerian)
It offers excellent opportunities for research, innovation and education to both local and foreign undergraduates and postgraduates. USM university has 17 research centres for a wide range of specialisations. The university offers research and educational oppurtunities to students and its staff.
USM Malaysia also has 10 service centres, 8 units (research/advisory/development.
It has made a limited number of places available to non-Malaysian citizens to undertake courses on a full-time basis. It is one of the biggest universities in terms of enrollment in Malaysia.
