Established in 1976, Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) holds the distinction of being one of Malaysia’s pioneering private universities. Originally known as Institut Latihan Sultan Ahmad Shah (ILSAS) until 1997, the institution attained its current identity as UNITEN when recognized as an esteemed institute of higher learning.

Facilities and Campus​

UNITEN boasts two distinct campuses, each offering unique features and ample resources for an enriching learning experience.

The Putrajaya Campus, founded in 1997, sits approximately 38 km south of Kuala Lumpur and spans an expansive 214 hectares. Here, students benefit from state-of-the-art academic facilities, including lecture halls, classrooms, seminar and conference rooms, engineering technology skills training workshops, personal computer laboratories, multimedia facilities, an auditorium, and a multipurpose hall.

The Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Campus in Pahang was established on 13 February 2001 to accommodate the rapid growth witnessed at the Putrajaya Campus. This second location provides students with top-notch instructional facilities, such as air-conditioned lecture theatrettes and classrooms, ensuring a conducive learning environment. UNITEN also takes student support services and development seriously, offering an array of recreational and sport facilities. The campuses boast an Olympic-size swimming pool, equestrian facilities for horse riding enthusiasts, and a mini-stadium for football lovers. Moreover, students have access to health and medical facilities, with the nearby Bandar Muadzam Shah Hospital catering to their medical needs. For spiritual endeavors, the Sultan Haji Campus is conveniently located within walking distance of a mosque. Additionally, sports enthusiasts can enjoy fields for soccer, rugby, and hockey, as well as courts for tennis, badminton, and sepak takraw, promoting a well-rounded and fulfilling university experience.
