Curriculum
The first two years focus on case-based learning and early clinical exposure, where subjects like anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology are taught in an integrated approach. Students also participate in lectures, simulation sessions, clinical reasoning, and anatomy labs to build a strong foundation in medical sciences.
Year 3:
Students begin clinical placements in government hospitals and clinics in Johor, covering internal medicine, surgery, mental health, reproductive health, and primary care. The year ends with the Clinical Decision Making 1 module.
Year 4:
This year features advanced integrated clinical placements across medical and surgical specialties, primary care, and acute & critical care. Students also complete a Student Selected Component in an area of interest and further develop clinical decision-making skills.
Year 5:
Final-year students prepare for professional practice with rotations in mental health, paediatrics, women’s health, and primary care, along with modules on Good Medical Practice and clinical assistantships. Students also undertake an 8-week elective, often internationally, gaining valuable global exposure.
